Voodoo Rich and Jim by 6nailbomb9 Voodoo Rich and Jim by 6nailbomb9
Here's Jim and I and our first collaboration. I was complaining about how I wanted to pencil...and Jim with his usual hyper energy goes..."draw something now!!"

I was like..."ah shit why did I open my f*ckin mouth..."

I started back pedaling and he's like come on take a half hour draw something and then I'll ink it....I was shitting a brick and for the first 5 or 10 minutes it was start something...erase it, start something else, erase it.

I finally got the balls and started getting in there. I had drawn Voodoo only one time before this and it was maybe a year or two earlier...I got the face ok, her arm and tattoo was alright, her boobs were kinda funky but it was pretty much done.

I think then Jim corralled me into painting it up with some washes....he was yelling throw down some water, now ink faster FASTER~!!!"

I was freaking out because I really didn't know what the hell I was doing....Jim came in at the end and really helped this thing work....I fumbled around and he was like bam bam bam...that's how you wrap it up.

and this was the final result. My guess is it was about 90 minutes from start to finish.

You can see how limited my "mental pose file" was back then.

"Ok stand there very straight up and hold the scary arm up! Perfect"

you'll notice the other pencil piece has a very similar thing going on.

Very cool. I'd say you stood your own in the drawing throw-down.

Hey, Jim could drive around the country like Bobby Flay on the Food Network and have art throw-downs with people who claim to be the best at something or another...

"Throwdown with Jim Lee!"

But, come to think of it, it may effect his deadline schedule...

Yeah, that sounds like Jim; he's a force of nature. I like the ink wash effect; it has an immediacy and energy that's tough to find in other mediums.
